"I would love for our church to be known as the most grace filled, welcoming, open group of people. I want to be known as a generous church in every way. It's the people who make The Crossing so great."
Andrew Brownback, Lead Pastor
A LITTLE HISTORY... IF YOU'RE CURIOUS

The Crossing began in September 1988, under the leadership of Tim Celek, with a simple but unique goal: create a church that people who have never been to church love attending.

Starting something new is never easy, but week-after-week, despite opposition from people who wanted church to look like “church is supposed to look,” The Crossing grew. The Crossing grew because that simple, focused vision connected.

We believed in creating a place where our family, friends, neighbors and coworkers could explore faith, connect with great people, grow as individuals, and engage in the world in meaningful ways.

In September of 2018, on the 30th anniversary of The Crossing, Tim transitioned out from his role and Andrew Brownback became the Lead Pastor. Today, five years into Andrew's leadership, the heart is the same. We continue to be the place people go to explore faith and experience the life-changing ways of Jesus.

This is why the same stories that we heard when we began, are the same stories we hear today. The Crossing continues to do the unexpected. Those who have never attended church, feel at home here to explore and find their way.

In the past, where Jesus, church and the Bible felt far off, distant and unrelatable. Now, it is close, near and real.

All the time, we hear that a new person is visiting because they had to see the place that changed their friend's (dad's, coworker's, girlfriend's...) life so profoundly.

Highlights just from 2023:

The grace Andrew is praying for is real: The life-changing ways of Jesus are evident when over 150 people have chosen to celebrate their faith and be baptized on campus so far in 2023 and over 150 people volunteer each week to make a difference through The Crossing.

The generosity Andrew is praying for is real: We've been able to help those in need from Maui wildfire relief funds, to opening a home for at-risk boys in Cambodia, to updating Orangewood, a local foster care home, consistently providing resources to care for friends in recovery or experiencing homelessness, and so much more.

At 35 years old, we are seeing our church grow because of the positive momentum and big hearts of the people here. We can’t wait to celebrate with you on September 10th!
