Statement of Faith

Our vision is to be the place people go to EXPLORE faith and EXPERIENCE the life-changing ways of Jesus.

1. God is the Creator and Ruler of the universe.

He has eternally existed in three persons:  The Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit. These three are coequal and are one God.

Genesis 1:1-2; Genesis 1:26-27; Psalm 90:2; Matthew 28:19-20

2. Jesus Christ is the Son of God.

He is coequal with the Father and Holy Spirit. Jesus lived a sinless human life and offered himself as the perfect sacrifice for the sins of all people by dying on a cross. He arose from the dead after three days to demonstrate His power over sin and death. He ascended to Heaven’s glory and will return again to earth to reign as King of Kings and Lord of Lords.

John 1:1-5; John 14:10-30; I Corinthians 15:3-4; Titus 2:13-14

3. The Holy Spirit

The Holy Spirit is coequal with the Father and the Son as God. He is present in the world to make people aware of their need for salvation through Jesus Christ.  He provides power for living, understanding of spiritual truth and conviction of sin. He also gives every believer gifts when they are saved. As Christians we seek to live under His control daily.

II Corinthians 3:17; John 14:16-17; John 16:7-13; Acts 1:8; I Corinthians 3:16; Ephesians 1:13-14

4. The Bible is God’s word to all people.

It was written by human authors under the supernatural guidance of the Holy Spirit. It is the supreme source of truth for Christian beliefs and living. Because the Bible is inspired by God, it is truth without any mixture of error.

II Timothy 3:16; II Peter 1:20-21; Psalm 119:105

5. The Church

The Christian Church is not limited to any one denomination or institution, it consists of all who trust in Jesus Christ for forgiveness and redemption of sin. The local church is a community of believers unified through faith in Christ. The Church works together in love and unity to continue to bring heaven to earth and continue the work of Jesus on the earth.

1 Corinthians 12:12-17; Matthew 16:18-19; Colossians 1:18; Ephesians 2:19-22

6. All people are created in God’s image.

People are the supreme object of God’s creation and are made in the image of God. Although every person has tremendous potential for good, we have been marred by an attitude of disobedience toward God called ‘sin,’ which separates us from God.

Genesis 1:26-27; Genesis 3:1-24; Psalm 8:3-6; Isaiah 53:6; Romans 3:23

7. Salvation is God’s free gift to us, but we must accept this gift.

We can never make up for our sin by self-improvement or good works. Only in trusting in Jesus Christ as God’s offer of forgiveness can man be saved from sin’s penalty. Eternal life begins the moment one receives Jesus Christ into his life by faith.

Romans 6:23; Ephesians 2:8-9; Titus 3:4-7; Romans 5:1

8. Eternity

People were created to exist forever. We will exist either eternally separated from God by sin or in union with God through forgiveness and salvation. To be eternally separated from God is Hell. To be eternally in union with Him is Heaven.

John 3:16; John 3:35-36; Romans 6:231 John 2:25; 1 John 5:11-13Revelation 20:15

9. Final Authority

This statement of belief does not exhaust the extent of our beliefs. The Bible itself, as the inspired and infallible Word of God that speaks with final authority concerning truth, morality, marriage, life, and the proper conduct of all mankind, is the sole and final source of all that we believe. For purposes of The Crossing Church’s faith, doctrine, practice, policy and discipline, our Lead Pastor and Board of Directors is The Crossing’s final interpretive authority on the Bible’s meaning and application. ‘Our aim is to speak where the Bible speaks and to be silent where the Bible is silent.
